2009-2010 Sample Preschool Schedule
ELCM’s Preschool program runs from 8:30 am until 12:00 pm and has both part-time and full-time options. Students may choose from two-day, three day, or five-day programs. The five-day program is available only to Extended Day students. With a lead teacher and one assistant our student teacher ratio is 6:1. (NH State ratio is 12:1) Our Preschool program supports ELCM’s philosophy of the development of the whole child. Our developmentally-appropriate curriculum gently introduces your child to school and lays the foundation for successful academic and social growth in the future. For many children, ELCM is their first school experience. Our nurturing environment provides a safe atmosphere where children can become part of a community outside their family.
The focus of our Preschool program is to introduce academic concepts with an emphasis on language development. Children master these concepts in our learning centers through hands-on learning, play, games, songs and movement. In this way, children are exposed to the “fun and excitement” of learning. Because social interactions are such an important aspect of your child’s development at this age, we use many aspects of Responsive Classroom to encourage socially appropriate behavior. PLEASE NOTE: Children must be three years of age on or before September 30th of the enrolling year. All enrolled students are expected to be potty trained. For the 2009-2010 school year we are very excited to be extending our Preschool program time.
